While many designers strive to build cohesive collections, others take a more singular approach, focusing on individual pieces that can stand confidently on their own. Designer Filip Tack falls into the latter camp. For him, it’s not about fulfilling the expectation of a lineup of objects, but instead, creating timeless, durable pieces that speak for themselves. His latest release, Più Objects, fully embodies this philosophy. Each piece is conceived as an independent work of art designed to bring lasting beauty and quiet functionality to the spaces they inhabit – without the need for a larger narrative.
Along with his experience as an interior designer, Tack was inspired by the work of photographer Peter Menzel. In particular, Menzel’s Material World, which captures families around the globe alongside their most cherished possessions, served as a powerful point of departure. Tack was drawn to the idea of creating enduring, essential pieces that hold emotional value, stand the test of time, and can be passed down through generations.
Più Objects currently includes a bowl set, floor lamp, one-seater chair, paravent with clothes hook, and a side table with tray. Each one features subtle details and a material palette of oak, marble, and solid surfaces, blending functionality with a refined aesthetic.
CHLL might appear to be a rigid chair but is actually a comfortable one-seater with an adjustable seat. By unscrewing the the removable, round rod found on the side of the chair and moving it the back, the chair’s relaxed recline can be slightly altered into a more active position.
HDSK adds richness to a space as a room divider, but Tack’s version elevates the concept with thoughtful functionality. A revolving panel introduces a sense of openness, while a rounded, silver-plated brass hook transforms the piece into a wardrobe of sorts, perfect for hanging or displaying a favorite garment. Subtle details, like the concealed connecting hinges and the elegantly patterned veneer, further refines the design and positions the HDSK as more than just a room divider – it’s a sculptural centerpiece with purpose.
And to pair comfort with practicality, there’s SRVM, a versatile solid wood side table featuring a removable tray for effortless serving and easy cleaning. The tray and table connect seamlessly via hidden magnets, ensuring a secure yet easily detachable surface. Its off-centered base allows it to be positioned snugly next to a sofa or chair, maximizing convenience. Beveled edges on the tray provide an easy grip, making it easy to lift and carry – instead of moving the entire table, you simply take the tray from surface to surface.
Available in two sizes, the CNDL floor lamp delights and surprises, concealing its light source within an elegant wooden frame. Its vertical slats create a rhythmic pattern of light and shadow while the soft ambient glow filters through, casting a warm, atmospheric presence reminiscent of a candle.
The MCRN appears as a single, unified object, but is actually three round bowls crafted with a bottom layer of marble, a middle layer of solid surface material, and a natural oak top. A thoughtfully bevelled side allows for an enhanced grip. Whether stacked or displayed individually, they embody the quiet harmony of materials, contrast, and cohesion.
Although Tack never set out to create a collection with an overarching theme, he actually did just that – by designing objects that all share a quiet elegance, highlight the raw beauty of the material, and elevate the inherent functionality. Each piece in Più Objects stands independently yet together, and form a narrative of timeless design and thoughtful craftsmanship.
